Dione, whose real name is Dionisia, is the oldest of six children born to Ramon and Corazon Frias in Digos City, Davao Del Sur. Despite the hardship of raising and educating six children, Dione’s parents worked hard and managed to save enough to send all of their kids to Catholic high schools and to college. But in 1989 her father was severely injured in a bus accident which left him permanently disabled. After that life changing event, Dione became the head of the family with all the responsibilities that it entailed.
Dione finished college with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Cor Jesu College of Digos. She is a Staff Accountant for Taqua, LLC, a telecommunications company in Richardson. Prior to moving to Texas she worked at the accounts payable department for the Walt Disney Company at Disney World in Florida.
Dione has been married to a fellow accountant, John Green, for twenty-one years now.
They currently reside in Plano and both are active devotees of the Sto. Niño de Cebu.
When Dione was first asked to become a Lead Fundraiser for PCCI back in 2012, she was very hesitant because she was not sure if she was up to the challenge. When she was again invited this year she became eager to participate after learning of the Bishop Camina Caritas Foundation, a charity back in Digos that is doing great work providing scholarships for indigenous children in the barrios and has an outreach program giving food for the poor. It touched her heart and she saw it as a signal that God had given her as she had been praying for guidance whether or not to become
a Lead Fundraiser.
“My father told me a long time ago that ‘education
is the only thing you can carry with you and no one can take it away from you,
wherever your life will lead you’. His word was my guiding light to persevere
in completing my education and getting my college degree. Part of the mission of PCCI and many of the
charities each of us is sponsoring is helping our young children to get a good
education. John and I had hoped to have
children of our own but unfortunately we were not blessed. However, I believe
God has an even better plan for us.
Charity is already in my blood doing what I do for my family back home.
But making a big difference in the lives of needy people outside my family is
something that I always wanted to do and I am so glad I was given this opportunity. Everybody knows this is a big challenge but
with God’s help, the support of my ever understanding and supportive husband,
and that of my friends and relatives here in North Texas, I know I can succeed
beyond our expectations. May God bless
the Philippines, the USA, and PCCI!”
